After-work pickleball in Lincoln: how to fit a game into a busy week
Pickl’N is open 6am to midnight every day with nine indoor courts. How to book from your phone, what to keep in your car, and how to make a weekly game stick.

Most people don’t skip pickleball because they don’t want to play. They skip it because the day got away from them. Here’s how to make a game work even when your calendar is packed.
The hours are on your side
Pickl’N is open every day from 6am to midnight. That means a game can happen before work, over a long lunch, right after you clock out, or at 9:30 on a Tuesday when the kids are finally asleep. Late meetings don’t have to cancel anything. You just play later.
All nine courts are indoors, so Nebraska weather is off the table too. No wind pushing your shots around, no rain delays, no scraping snow off a court in January.
Book it like a meeting
The games that actually happen are the ones on the calendar.
- Use the CourtReserve app. It’s on iPhone and Android, and you can book a court in a couple of minutes from the parking lot at work. Book a court here.
- Get everyone set up once. Every player needs their own free CourtReserve account and a signed waiver. Have your group do it the first week and you’re done.
- Pick a standing time. Same day, same time, every week. "Thursdays at 6" is a lot easier to protect than "sometime this week."
- Book ahead for popular evenings. Weeknight evenings are prime time, so grabbing your slot early helps.
No membership is needed for hourly court time. If you end up playing every week, a membership can save money and gets you a longer booking window, so it’s worth a look once the habit sticks.
Doubles is four people. You already know four people.
Pickleball is mostly played as doubles, so you need three others. That’s a coworker, a neighbor, your sibling and whoever in the group chat always says they’re down. Courts are booked by the hour, so an hour of doubles is a solid, social workout that still gets you home at a decent time.
Coming alone? Open play sessions are grouped by skill level, and you don’t need a partner. Find a session in CourtReserve and sign up.
Keep a pickleball bag in the car
The easiest way to say yes to a last-minute game is to already have your stuff:
- Clean, non-marking court shoes. Required, and outdoor shoes aren’t allowed on the courts, so keep an inside-only pair.
- A change of clothes you can move in.
- A water bottle.
- A paddle, if you have one. If not, paddles are free at the front desk.
After the game
There’s a lounge at Pickl’N if you want to hang out after your game, and free parking right outside. Or play your hour and head home. Either works.
Planning something for your team?
